  • Color copy of Passport
  • International Health Insurance Card (provided by team leader)
  • 2 Total bags for travel
    • 2 Carry-on bag: 1 carry on backpack for under seat + 1 carry on bag for overhead bin
    • Any Checked bag can be taken for a cost of $60 or more paid by the individual team member at the airport
  • Cash for airports meals, snacks in DR & small souvenirs ($50-$100 in bills without marks or tears)
  • Bible/Journal/Pen
  • Refillable Water Bottle
  • When Helping Hurts Book
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Hand sanitizer (small bottle)
  • Shorts, skirts, or capris (finger tip length minimum)
  • T-shirts (casual & modest, no tank tops)
  • Bathing suit (modest one piece, tankini, or a t-shirt over a two piece)
  • Hat
  • Camera (or phone with camera)
  • Toilet paper (keep some with you at all times)
  • Ear plugs/eye mask (for sleeping)
  • Snacks — Energy Bars (nothing that will melt), Trail Mix,etc
  • Electrolyte Drink Mix Packets — Gatorade, Propel, etc
  • 75 – 4X6 copies of your family picture (have a modest background in your picture when taken, these will be a gift to the each child)
  • Personal medications
  • Bug repellent & Sun screen
  • Light rain jacket
  • Extra batteries & cables for charging phone and camera


  • Motion sickness medication, Pepto Bismol, Imodium
  • Zithromax (or another doctor recommend travelers antibiotic)
  • Beach towel for swimming


  • Purse (use a backpack), Jewelry (wedding rings or anything of great value)
  • Alcohol or tobacco, Bottled water (provided in country), AC converter (USA outlets are provided)
  • Sheets, Pillow or Fan (provided for each bed)
