Abdulai was born and raised in the northern town of Makeni with both parents. When he was 13, the family moved to Waterloo where he continued school. His father and mother agreed to move back to Makeni because the father was a hunter and the hunting trade was more profitable there than in Waterloo.
However, Abdulai decided to stay behind because he wanted to pursue his education in Waterloo. He believed that education in Makeni was poor as compared to Waterloo along with the fact that there were no secondary schools in Makeni. Abdulai started doing odd jobs to keep himself in school since there was no one to pay his tuition. He then saved money for his school and for food, but things remained difficult. As a result, Abdulai was forced to drop out of school.
Abulai is in Senior Secondary IV and attends Peninsula Secondary School.
