Alhassan currently lives in Waterloo, Sierra Leone. His mother passed away when he was just three and was raised by his father and stepmother.
His father died in 2010, and since that time Alhassan’s life has changed dramatically. He could not continue his school because his stepmother claimed to not to have enough funds for his tuition, all the while his half-brother continued to go to school.
Things deteriorated at home as his stepmother would give his half-brother plenty of food while giving Alhassan not nearly enough to survive. Alhassan was left with no option but to leave and go to the streets to fend for himself. Fortunately, he was reintegrated with his stepmother, however he had been working on the streets of Waterloo as a laborer.
Alhassan is in Junior Senior Secondary II and attends Peninsula Junior Secondary School.
