Nabie’s mother sells fish in the market. His father lives a polygamist lifestyle and has three wives and more than 15 children. He does not have adequate resources to take care of all of his children.
The mothers of the children are charged with the responsibility of looking after their own children. Nabie's mother has five children, Nabie being one of the youngest. His mother simply cannot fund his schooling and can only manage to put one meal on the table a day.
Given the situation, Nabie follows other boys in his neighborhood to search for scrap metals and plastic bottles to make his living. He stopped attending school in Class V and his wish is to return to school.
