Salaimatu lost both parents when she was only four years old. Her father was in a motorcycle accident and did not survive his injuries.
Salaimatu’s mother became very ill soon after. With the depression of losing her husband and the pressure of being the sole provider for her family, she passed away.
The death of her mother left Salaimatu and her two siblings as double orphans. Salaimatu was sent to live with her grandmother who struggles to provide for her basic needs.
Her grandmother’s struggle to provide has led Salaimatu to find work by carrying bags for businessmen and women or fetching water for people in her community to earn money for food.
She is one of the first two girls in our girl’s ministry in Sierra Leone, Waterloo. Salaimatu therefore has only recently started school and is in is in Class 2. She wishes to be a doctor one day.
