Ritu was born in a Hindu family. She has a brother and a sister. When she was much younger her father lost his mental stability. Ritu grew up seeing all her relatives rejecting them due to her father's mental condition. Even though she was very young she was able to understand the behavior of society towards her family.
She grew up in a situation where her classmates teased her saying that she was a daughter of the mad man. This situation really hurt Ritu deeply.
Her struggles did not end there. Everyone denied Ritu's mother a chance at a job since society gave her the stigma of a mad man's wife. In turn, the family hardly had anything to eat on most days much less resources to take her father to a psychiatrist. So then, Ritu lost her father as well. Being the eldest daughter she saw both the struggle of her mother as well as the situation of her younger siblings.
Finally, one of the few Christian families in the community agreed to hire her mother as a maid. This Christian family shared the gospel with her and she is now attending church regularly. Ritu's mother came to know about Mercy Homes from the church and asked for admittance for her daughter. She wants Ritu to experience the love of God so that He may heal her many wounds as well as feel the love of a Christian community.
