Jeison was born in 2005 and lives in Batey Lechería in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lechería are Haitian.
Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Unless they have sufficient funds to start their own business, which most do not, they are passed over for work because of their nationality. Dominicans prefer to hire their own countrymen.
Jeison lives with his father and grandmother. Jeison's mother abandoned him when he was much younger. Since then, his father remarried and Jeison has two siblings, Rosemery who is five years old and Monchi who is four years old.
Jeison attends public school and is in the 6th grade. His favorite color is green and he wants to become a police officer in the future.
