Cristian was born in 2011 and lives in Batey Lechería in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lechería are Haitian.
Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Unless they have sufficient funds to start their own business, which most do not, they are passed over for work because of their nationality. Dominicans prefer to hire their own countrymen.
Cristian lives with both of his parents and his siblings in a very humble home. His siblings are Line who is seventeen, Lizzandro who is eighteen and Marcelo who is nineteen. Cristian's father works in construction and his mother works in a cherry plantation collecting cherries. Their combined income is simply not enough to properly sustain the family.
Cristian attends public school and is in 1st grade. His favorite color is blue and he would like to become a teacher in the future.
