Frenkeli lives in Batey Lechería in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lechería are Haitian.
Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Unless they have sufficient funds to start their own business, which most do not, they are passed over for work because of their nationality. Dominicans prefer to hire their own countrymen.
Frenkeli lives with his grandparents and his two sisters. His mother passed away due to a heart attack when he was only two years old. His father still lives in the village but does not acknowledge him. Frenkeli's sister Yulissa is 20 years old and his other sister Carolina is 17 years old.
