Dalfrin lives in Batey Lechería in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lechería are Haitian.
Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Unless they have sufficient funds to start their own business, which most do not, they are passed over for work because of their nationality. Dominicans prefer to hire their own countrymen.
Dalfrin's father is the pastor of the local church in the village and also drives a delivery truck. The money he makes is not sufficient to provide for the family but even so he has taken in orphans from the village. The family lives in a three room home.
Dalfrin, therefore, has eight siblings. His siblings are Dany, Danelson, Dalvin, Daniela, Deyanira and David. The family has taken in two orphans, Veronica and Luis Miguel. Luis Miguel is also in 25 Project's sponsorship program.
Dalfrin speaks Spanish and attends the public school two miles from his village. He is currently in 2nd grade. During his free time he likes to play soccer. Dalfrin's favorite color is red. He would like to become a firefighter in the future.
