Emanuel lives in Batey Lechería in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lechería are Haitian.
He was born in the Dominican Republic and speaks Spanish. Emanuel has three siblings and lives with his parents. His father is occasionally able to find work in construction or farming. Many times Dominican workers are hired over Haitian workers which makes finding work even more difficult.
His siblings are Natanael age eight, Abigail age three and Albierti who is ten months old. His mother does not work so that she can care for the children.
Currently, Emanuel is in 4th grade at the primary public school. His favorite subject is math and he enjoys playing baseball. Emanuel's favorite color is yellow. He would like to become an engineer in the future.
