Rosaura lives in Batey Lechería in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lechería are Haitian.
Rosaura lives with both of her parents and her four siblings. Her dad sells various items on the streets to try to provide for the family. Her mother cleans houses in the city when work is available.
Rosaura speaks Spanish and Creole. She attends the public school that is two miles from their village. She is in the 4th grade and her favorite subject is math. During her free time, Rosaura likes to play with dolls. Rosaura wants to become a doctor in the future.
