Esteban lives in Batey Lechería in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lechería are Haitian.
Esteban's dad abandoned the family and his mom works in a cherry plantation, harvesting cherries, to try and provide for her family.
Esteban speaks Spanish and attends the public school two miles from his village. He is currently in 2nd grade. During his free time he likes playing soccer. Esteban's favorite color is red. He does not yet know what he would like to become in the future.
