Kimberly lives in Batey Lechería in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lechería are Haitian.
She lives with both parents and her five siblings. Kimberly's mom is very sick and her dad broke his leg. Prior to breaking his leg, her dad sold items to try and provide for his family.
Kimberly speaks Spanish and she attends the public school that is two miles from her village. She is currently in 3rd grade and her favorite subject is math. In her free time, Kimberly likes to play with dolls. In the future she would like to become a teacher.
