Hope In Waterloo

July 17, 2013

How will I get my next meal? Will I ever be able to go to school again? Will I die from malaria or some other disease because I can’t go to a doctor or get medicine? Does anyone care about me? Is there a God, and if there is One, why did He forget about me? Questions like these, along with countless others, are all legitimate questions asked by the kids of Waterloo, Sierra Leone. In the minds of these…

Waterloo – Home To Hundreds of Street Kids

July 17, 2013

I just returned from a trip to Sierra Leone and I can say I’m unashamedly fired up about the ministry God is allowing the 25 Project to be involved in there.  He has opened the door for tremendous impact upon street kids in a community just outside Freetown named “Waterloo”. Hundreds of boys wander the streets of Waterloo everyday, doing odd jobs to get enough money to buy a plate of rice.  Some days they eat, some days they don’t….

Team Meeting Report

July 17, 2013

Earlier this month the 25 Project team met to discuss and pray about all that God is doing through 25. For much of the meeting, there was much praise about the incredible things God is doing through the 25 Project.  It is amazing to see that it is God who is moving in a way that only He can receive praise.  The 25 Project isn’t about any one person, but it is about making much of Him! As a young…

Ministry In The D.R.

July 17, 2013

This past week a few team members from 25 took a vision trip to evaluate ministry opportunities in the Dominican Republic (DR).  We have come back fired up about the opportunities that we believe God has put in our path.  The prayers of many who lifted us up and asked for God’s wisdom and clarity was evident!   We spent time in a number of bateys, which in simple terms is basically a poor village of Haitian immigrants.  A quick…

Random Questions From a 4 Year Old

July 17, 2013

Happy Birthday! “And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth.” Luke 2:6 “When is Jesus’ birthday?” was recently asked by my daughter. Good question for a variety of reasons. Of course, with my daughter, one question is always followed by another question! So her next question was, “Why don’t we know exactly when Jesus was born?” Sometimes, it is the innocence of youth that rocks your world! It made me start thinking. My father was…

Father’s Day In The Dominican Repubic

July 17, 2013

Ahhh Father’s Day…my 7th one to experience as a father last Sunday. Great day, and one in which I was reminded of how blessed I am. With the arrival of our sweet BrynnLee a couple months ago, three children now live under our roof. At any given time, one can hear the sounds of giggling, squealing, hollering, crying and any other myriad of sounds that can be imagined. Honestly, it’s wild and crazy in our house most of the time….

Grant Me Your Eyes

July 17, 2013

The question was simple: “Where is your bathroom?” The question didn’t even make me look up. The answer, however, got my full attention: “Our bathroom is out of order.” We were on a road trip and had stopped at a gas station to fill up the tank, grab a snack and take a potty break. The reason the station attendant’s answer gave me pause was because my husband had just used their restroom. It was fully functional two minutes ago….

What’s Happening On May 21st?

July 17, 2013

The 25 Project Classic, that’s what’s happening! We are thrilled to be able to hold our first official event at Stonebridge Country Club in McKinney, TX. As of this morning, we currently have more than 20 teams (80+ actual people) committed to play in the tourney, and 20+ who are planning to walk. Unfortunately we do not have any open spots for more golf teams, but do have space for more walkers. Our hope is that we will have more…

I Purpose To Be Absolutely His

July 17, 2013

So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:33 I’m confident that I didn’t understand all that was required when I came to faith in Christ at the young age of six.  All I knew at that time was that I wanted the benefit of knowing for sure I’d be in heaven one day.  I had no clue what Jesus was demanding from me if I was to be…

Lay Up For Yourselves Treasures in Heaven…

July 17, 2013

Few books have made as big an impact on my life (outside of the Bible) like Randy Alcorn’s book, The Treasure Principle. It’s a book I try to reread again every year or so. As the subtitle states, the book will challenge you to discover the secret to joyful giving. Without question for me, I had a great example of what it means to be a joyful giver. As a child I watched my father, without any hesitation, give over…
